Horizontal shaft crushers can efficiently reduce concrete at a ratio of up to 12:1 which is much higher than something like a jaw or cone crusher. So these small impact crushers should work circles around a similarly sized jaw crusher.

When you are wotking with hard rock, you will need a horizontal shaft grinder as they are able to work with hard and abrasive rock and stone. They can work around 2x faster with a primary crusher in front of it (depending on your material).
