What type of equipment is used to crush natural stone?

When crushing stone, your material usually goes through 2 stages of processing; 1. Breaking and size reduction, 2. Sorting. Things like hydraulic breakers, crushers and impactors are used to break the material down from large chunks into a more useful size. Virgin and natural stone are some of the hardest materials to crush so you have to make sure your machine is up to the job. A screener is then used to sort the crushed stone into different sized products depending on what you want to use it for.

What is crushed stone used for?

Crushed stone can be used for a lot of different things, from road works to landscape projects. It's common to use rock sizes like ½” or ¾” as a subbase material before pouring concrete or laying roads. If you are crushing a visually attractive stone these sizes can also be used in gardens. Larger crushed stone is also used for fill, drainage, and pipe bedding.
